ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ (February 23, 2009) – Bauer Publishing Group President and Chief Executive Officer Hubert Boehle today announced that Sebastian Raatz has been named vice president of New Media, effective immediately. Raatz, who previously served as director of New Media for Bauer, will report to Boehle.
“In such a challenging economic time, it’s critical to have talent on staff that has the unique ability to create profitable business platforms in the digital world,” said Boehle. “Sebastian has a proven track record in this arena, and I am excited that he is leading our digital charge.”
In his new role, Raatz will oversee all of Bauer’s digital businesses. Among his recent accomplishments, Raatz has assembled the Bauer Teen Network, which includes online versions of J-14, M and Twist magazines, teen humor site 4TNZ.com, as well as a network of teen affiliate sites Bauer has partnered with such as Blingee.com and Glogster.com. In addition to content sharing, Bauer is representing the affiliate sites for advertising sales. As a result, with the network partners, advertisers can reach more than 4 million unique visitors within the Bauer Teen Network each month. Clients that have already signed up include Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Activision’s Guitar Hero, Sony Theatrical and Universal Music.
Prior to Bauer, Raatz worked as a business analyst in the electronic media division at Axel Springer, one of Europe’s leading media enterprises, helping the firm strategically acquire new media companies
In the U.S., Bauer currently publishes a variety of magazines that connect with a nationwide audience of active, engaged newsstand consumers at every life stage – from tweens and teens (M, J-14, Twist, Quizfest, Astrogirl, Life Story) to young women (In Touch Weekly, Life & Style Weekly) to baby boomers and beyond (Woman’s World, First, Soaps In Depth).
