Englewood Cliffs, NJ (February 6, 2014) – Bauer Publishing Group, the #1 seller of magazines at retail in the US, today announces that its two women’s titles, Woman’s World and First for Women, are now the top selling magazines at newsstand in the U.S.
It is the first time that one publishing company has occupied the top two spots in retail sales, a testament to Bauer’s ongoing commitment to the newsstand and the success of its consumer based business model.
Woman’s World, Bauer’s weekly women’s magazine, is the #1 selling title at newsstand, followed by First for Women (published every three weeks) which occupies the #2 position. Rankings are based on data from the nearly 500 magazines measured by the Alliance for Audited Media’s (AAM) Snapshot Report for the second half of 2013 released today.
According to the report, Woman’s World averaged 998,357 in single copy sales and First for Women averaged single copy sales of 973,090.
“We really love our readers, and we’re glad that the feeling is mutual!” said Stephanie Saible, editor-in-chief of Woman’s World. “We succeed because our goal at Woman’s World is simple: To make people feel good. Because after all, don’t we all want more happiness and positive energy in our lives?”
First for Women editor-in-chief Carol Brooks added: “First for Women has always put the reader FIRST, providing valuable information which helps our readers feel smarter, more empowered and even more accomplished – this formula is clearly resonating with our many loyal readers and we’re grateful for their continued support!”
“We’re extremely excited about publishing the top two selling magazines at retail” said Ian Scott, President of Bauer Media Group “Our readers are truly connected to our magazines, as is shown by the fact that we consistently out-perform the women’s service magazines in MRI/Starch Admeasure noted/actions taken engagement metrics. Today’s results are further evidence of our reader’s strong relationship with these magazines.”
Bauer has previously executed three new launches in fall of 2013 including Celebrate! with Woman’s World, the celebrity entertainment magazine Closer, and a young girls publication Girls World.
